There is no branch of mathematics, however abstract, which may not someday be applied to the phenomena of the real world, so said Lobachevsky; a Russian mathematician known primarily for his work on hyperbolic geometry. For understanding any mathematical statement we need to recollect first what mathematics basically is. When we solve a problem, our solution is either right or wrong. There is no midway to the problems in mathematics.. A mathematical statement is either true or false like in Logic Circuits, a switch is either Open or Closed, it is either a Zero or a one to be always sure. We have come a long way from our first landing here on earth. What we are today is the result of the so called evolution in every field we know of. Our urge and capability to reason every statement, bring it to some optimum solution and conclusion helps us evolve every hour or minute of the day. In this context, Oral Mathematics has played a huge role. We first think it all in our heads before we sit to work it out. We cannot depend on Calculators, Computers and the rest always for any number of reasons least among all could be they may be out of order at the time we need them bad. This little effort helps us check our answers without going an extra mile in a simple fundamental way. There is all kind of data on Oral Mathematics but I had published a paper on it in India in Council of Scientific and Industrial Research way back and was paid paltry Sum for the effort. It is worth looking into if for nothing else, for its very sake.
