This film is rated R. Have you ever watched a horror movie and thought, 'man, those guys are the two worst people to be the chosen ones to defeat the evil whatever.'? What if that still happened but the story you were seeing was from the neighbors, even more unqualified individuals dealing with their own lives. This story opens up, painting a mental picture for the reader, as if they were watching a movie, set around two brothers, Charlie and Bobby Byrne. Bobby, the oldest brother is without a doubt, the nastiest person that anyone could ever hope to never meet. He's gross, foul-mouthed and possesses far too much control over his younger brother, the hopeless Charlie, who is dealing with the hardest choice of his life, which is whether or not to call off his wedding. Lyla Kingsly, Charlie's fiancee, is also struggling with her own life and how it fits into her relationship. The fact that Bobby and Lyla don't exactly get along only makes Charlie's life harder to handle, forcing him into little daydream sequences to sort things out. As the lives of these three characters unfold, a new superstore, "The Palace" moves into the small town with fantastic deals and wonderful products. Charlie and Bobby would realize that something seemed foul about this store if they could get their heads out of their asses, and maybe they would even realize that their neighbors, a pair of British siblings, are fighting mysterious monsters while everyone else's backs are turned. Of course the Byrne brothers are going to get dragged into the mix, being the 'chosen ones' to defeat the Palace, but it's all just a real bummer for them.
