Haven

Worldwide conflict has filled the air with smoke and dust, preventing the sun from warming the planet. The new Ice Age begins. While armed Alaskans fight off the Japanese who plan to harvest Katmai National Forest for firewood, caravans of refugees trek southward to escape the effects of global cooling, incessant snow, and freezing temperatures. Also dotting the landscape are violent bands of marauders who prowl the countryside stealing supplies, killing opposition, and kidnapping civilians for work, sale, or pleasure. And overseas, Allied forces withdraw suddenly from the Middle East, leaving soldiers stranded in foreign lands. Danni Sawyer, an escaped P. O. W. and accused deserter, is a member of refugee caravan heading south to 'Haven' in Texas. If she can reach Haven, she'll get a fair trial. On her trek home, she contends with stranded civilians, kidnap victims, and a brutal Tracker determined to bring her to justice. But she also finds a man hell-bent to win her love and keep her alive.
