Ever had someone say to you, "You don't respect me" or "You're not respecting yourself" and you had no idea what they were talking about? Well you're not alone. I had a VERY hard time when I was a teenager. My mother told me so many times that I wasn't respecting her and I had no idea what she meant. She couldn't explain it and I couldn't grasp it. I'm a very concrete and visual person and respect is an intangible word. I struggled with this word during my teenage years since I couldn't look at a picture of respect nor touch something made out of respect.
