Sixteen year old Elizabeth Andrews is forced to make a hard decision when tragedy strikes her home and she is left with her horrid uncle. After she meets her Uncle Justin for the first time and seeing that her future lies in his hands, she runs away, wanting to choose her own fate. After convincing her new friend, Will, to help her join the battle, she soon finds herself in the midst of the American Revolutionary War. After sneaking in as a young woman and joining the American army, she fights for her own freedom as well as freedom for others. However, being a small girl in a major war is hard to keep a secret, especially when General George Washington trusts her with his life. She soon gives everything to fight for America's freedom and without hesitation, is willing to die for the cause. When the time comes, when she is finally happy again, she loses everything she had ever saved. Will she be found out in the midst of the war? Can she face the years to come of heartbreak and battle? During the war, Elizabeth must find out who she is and how far she will go to save the ones she loves most.
