A Queen's Journey Antonin Grook
A Queen's Journey
Antonin Grook
After the Armistice ending World War 1, the Peace Conference has begun in Paris. Romania wishes to confirm the territorial gains made following its rally to the Allies. Its government sends Marie, the Queen of Romania, to Paris, hoping that her legendary charm will win Clemenceau, Lloyd George and Wilson to the Romanian cause. She is travelling on a special train, accompanied by aides recruited from among the different nationalities of her kingdom: a Romanian, a Saxon, a Szekler and a Roma. A military contingent tries to protect the train as it crosses new, unstable borders. But someone wants to prevent it from reaching Paris by all means, including strike action, sabotage and attempted murder. Who is guilty and why do they want to impede the Queen's journey? The answer is hidden in the thousand-year history of the Szekler people.
