Ramadan is the heart of the Islamic calendar. It's most widely known as a time of fasting, of discipline and self-restraint. But it is also a time for community to come togetherThis year all of that changes, as mosques close to large gatherings, leaving imams and qaris - who are trained in the recitation of the Qur'an - to do what they can with livestreams and Zoom. These poems chronicle the author's journey through Ramadan 2019. Each reflects a moment, an experience, a reflection; as a whole, they offer an opportunity to experience Ramadan through his eyes.
