At the University of Panadawn, Professor Faam tells the true story of Nacyon and the fall of the Quill Empire to three special students: Fratris, nephew of the great historian, Frim Folderol; Crotal Cucurbit, the Sultan of Saron; and Fengtai, the bodyguard to Shogun Penti. Nacyon, the Rao of Sapadilla, was tasked by his king to report on his daughter, Princess Zizania, while she was studying on the university ship, Cissoid Corindon. But Zizania, wild and angry at her father, had become an embarrassment to the Quill Empire and Nacyon was tempted intomaking a fatal decision.
