Deputy Dell grew up hard on the big city streets. Her life now trends towards normal after escaping to the northern plains and snagging a law enforcement position in a small Dakota county. Unless you count her being left for dead and her female friend being carted off to a fortified compound of fanatics near the White River. Dell's rescue plan enlists the aid of a rough and tumble deputy from a neighboring county, who immediately falls for her. She hasn't had good luck with men and equivocates, not knowing if she'll hate herself later. It doesn't help that her friend has refused to be rescued. Sometimes, even the right decision can be wrong!
