Sixteen-year-old Pennecott Stamp lives to watch the vitality drain out of dying animals before using them as hand puppets, but he'd much rather watch a human die. If only he could be sure he'd get away with it. When Mr. Hodges, one of the most powerful men in town, proposes eliminating trick or treating in an effort to squash the rash of entitlement he perceives in local youth, 17-year-old Gavin Harper fears the proposal could affect the annual Halloween haunt he and his friends build every year. As Mr. Hodges converts more people to his cause and protests break out on either side of the issue, Pennecott sees a town distracted enough to be caught unaware. While Gavin and his friends design their most elaborate Halloween maze to date, Pennecott designs a catastrophic explosion of violence that brings them all together on Halloween night.
