In her debut novel, Kiki Mone't shares her captivating story about her coming-of-age journey as a queer, POC woman navigating through the conservative, heteronormative world around her. Her story re-tells childhood events that shapes who she is as a teenager and young adult. As she struggles to defeat childhood trauma, she meets a variety of girls and women who individually change her life and contribute to her coming out story. Kiki learns that coming out isn't as simple as it seems, and uses her story as a testimony for young, queer girls who follow in her footsteps, wanting to be that awkward yet colorful "unicorn." She wrote this memoir for those girls who want to be free and open with who they are, but ultimately feel like they just can't do it.
