This book is a coming of age book culminated over a single question: 'To what extent is one allowed to be affected by people's actions? It focuses on mental health and achieves this by introducing us to AMANDA the protagonist of the book and we walk with her as she experiences the sudden disappearance of her older sister. This event and others to follow then become major stressors in her life as it becomes a domino effect from then on. We go with her through her social woes, struggling with making healthy relationships in her High School career including her relationship with her only friend and love interest. This book again tackles the reality of the effects of dysfunctional families, rape, suicide, and social pressure, and to what extent are you allowed to react or feel the pain as a result of all of this. It is a book about one person's pain that becomes Thier collective pain.
