Braldt Lioncastle was a disgraced ex-cop, working as a bouncer at a bar, separated from his wife, and living in a barn. He thought he had hit rock bottom. But today he woke up dead. His day went downhill from there. Braldt's spirit was judged not ready for heaven or hell and instead was assigned to a prison-like world called Purgatory. An existence where eight Chaos Gods rule over a violent world where ancient magic, legendary monsters like dragons, demons, vampires, and historical heroes are real. A place where time and space are as chaotic as the world's Gods. Dying painfully in horrible new ways is everyday news in this world. Worse, when slain you wake in your tomb only to do it again the next day. All to earn Enlightenment in hopes of one day moving on to your soul's next destination. Can a common human find allies and survive in a world of supernatural beings were dying was not supposed to be permanent, until suddenly true death of the soul was not only a possibility but a probability.
