The Antics of Ekunyuk, the Squirrel Eumot Bon
The Antics of Ekunyuk, the Squirrel
Eumot Bon
The story of Okunyuk, the Squirrel, was loved by the preteens in the land of the Iteso during the pre-colonial era. They were told in the evening before the children slept. The children learned many lessons from the antics of the squirrel. The use of commonsense and reason was foremost for the Iteso. Children were expected to think and act independently and not over-rely on others foolishly. On the other hand, they also learned that life cannot depend on tricks forever.
