What was it like to be a youngster 60 years ago? Peter Crewe's book describes in enjoyable detail the freedom and constraints of growing up in the 50's and 60s. It is full of eventful tales, the family life, the humour, fun, sadness and emotion of his first eighteen years. It is based around Abergavenny, Gilwern, Brynmawr and Ebbw Vale but you don't have to be from the local area to enjoy it. It is a 'slice of life' from 60 years ago - a piece of social history. An appendix also includes the teaching and World War Two memories of Peter's father, 'Mr Crewe', a well respected figure in the local community.
