Thirty Days On Spring II Richard McDowell
Thirty Days On Spring
II Richard McDowell
The year was 2003 - pre gentrification - and I had volunteered to sit at night, to pull fire watch so that I could basically continue squatting in the Spring Arts Tower. In time, it wasn't enough for me to simply watch for fire. I found myself absorbed in the recurring characters, the often unnoticed lives in the seedy world of my neighborhood. My friend, Gronk, suggested I record the events I was witnessing because they probably would never happen again. Thirty Days on Spring is a look through the dark window into the beautiful, often tragic events that occurred in my life and outside my building at the corner of Spring and Fifth in downtown Los Angeles as the night fire watchman.
