THE FIRST CITIZENS OF HOME WORLD arrived in four types of ships: passenger ships containing engineers and scientists who had the specialized skills required to construct the infrastructure survival required; cargo ships crammed with the prefabricated materials and equipment those engineers required to "set up shop;" ships containing the embryonic flora and fauna necessary for human survival; and last, but not least, a ship crammed with the cultural and artistic history of humanity, and the artists, musicians, philosophers, and mystics who make us human. Fragments of those ships are on display in this museum. Everyone on board pledged to live by the laws and conventions of the legendary land of Usoa; a place where laws were fair, and adult citizens who broke those laws or attempted to settle their disputes 'outside the law' or by violence, could be banished. Unfortunately, laws did not save Usoa, and laws alone cannot save us. But in very important ways, living by those laws makes us human beings. --Adrian Prescott
