In volume two Mercer finds himself working directly for the C. I. A. Again we see him jump through hoops and loops in his quest to find his true identity. This quest is hindered by the plans of his family and special agent V, but again love pushes him forward into a new position in his life unexpected by the C. I. A. In the end he is helped by the people that he thought were his enemies, but again it ends leaving the reader on a cliff waiting to find out how this trilogy end in volume three Witness Protection.
