It's 1958 and Marian Fennell's quiet life as a timid textile conservator is interrupted by a panicked, late-night call from her Aunt Ruthie. The sounds of a violent struggle in the background send Marian to the rescue, but too late. Ruthie vanishes without a trace. Marian's search for her is interrupted by an unexpected complication: Ruthie's home has been taken over by a group of mysterious, disgruntled furniture! And they aren't shy about voicing their opinions. The John Hepplewhites, a group of dining room chairs, are constantly underfoot and Tazzi, a Persian rug, insists she's a flying carpet. It turns out Aunt Ruthie's life is much more adventurous than Marian had ever guessed. To rescue Ruthie, Marian will have to step way outside her comfort zone and untangle clues that lead across the globe. Tazzi had better be able to fly!
