April Walker was a sweet, innocent, and talented twelve-year-old girl. She maintained good grades and stayed out of trouble. She loved the theater and acting, and she was getting quite good. There was one problem, however. When she was not delivering her lines on stage, April spoke with a stutter.

Bullies ruined April's first day of junior high with their cruel teasing. She burst into tears as she walked home from the bus stop. After dinner, April confided in her mother. Laura Walker knew just what to do.
