The main characters in "How it all Happened" remain close friends but three of them are now resident in India, members of a pioneering community led by Dr Balakrishnan, a charismatic figure with big ideas, which have grown not merely from his own tradition but are now fused with ideas stemming from such Western pioneers as Freud and Kinsey - and then some. All three Englishmen not only learn a good deal about India but also how much the West has to learn from a widely different culture.
