The Proverbs of Solomon, haiku and senryu
Dan Lukiv
Solomon wrote down many of the 3000 maxims credited to his hand in the book of Proverbs (Agur the son of Jakeh wrote chapter 30; Lemuel the king [some believe Lemuel was another name for Solomon] wrote chapter 31). But, of course, his hand, inspired by his God Jehovah, records more than earthly wisdom. These proverbs, if we give them a place to dwell in our hearts, and if we give them time in our meditations, provide us with insight, discernment, thinking ability, and Godly wisdom, in abundance, and help us appreciate the weight of scriptures such as Hebrews 4:12: "For the word of God is alive and exerts power and is sharper than any two-edged sword and pierces even to the dividing of soul and spirit, and of joints from the marrow, and is able to discern thoughts and intentions of the heart." // An excerpt // Chapter 2 // see! behind / the myrtle tree! the wicked / man! gone!
