I sit here at my (prison) desk - not one month removed from the George Floyd killing and I wonder to myself, "Prince, How on Earth did YOU get here? " I can't ascribe blame to anyone but myself. Sure, culture had a hand in it. George Floyd's death is clearly relatable. The prospectS for change have never been greater. But -- What are we going to do? Trigger Happy was written when another Black had been killed and I couldn't Take It anymore standing idly by in prison. I wrote Trigger Happy with Spike Lee in mind to direct and play the pivotal role of the brother "fed up" with Blacks being killed. The project never materialized so I put it on the shelf. Then the unthinkable - George Floyd is MURDERED on TV in front of the whole world. I pulled Trigger Happy out immediately. This is a STORY that MUST BE TOLD!
