The author, Bill Patterson spent his childhood days in the Midwestern U. S. and graduated from Missouri University of Science & Technology at Rolla in 1953. He served as an officer in the U. S. Navy Reserve for 15 years and was a petroleum engineer and economics analyst with Shell Oil Company for 38 years. This collection of stories about growing up in a farm community was written mainly for publication in his hometown newspaper, the Bolivar Herald-Free Press in Bolivar, Missouri.
