From the outside, Tanerville seems like a simple and quiet town, a small, rural area with a couple of old-fashioned shops and regular people who enjoy the easygoing lifestyle that comes with living in the country. After James Watson and his family move in, they start to realize that things aren't as simple as they seem, and the people aren't as boring as they expected. As the story progresses, Tanerville learns that the Watsons themselves have secrets and histories and aren't as boring as they expected either. Friendships and morals are put to the test as James runs from his mysterious past while caring for his family and finding his place in his new home.
