Between the Rocks
Barbara Hawes
Leena Frazer lives with her husband and two children and runs a bed and breakfast on the Rhode Island coastline. One morning after a jog, she finds Jackie, a young woman close to death from a suicide attempt, lying near the water between the rocks. It was unlikely anyone else would have found her. Leena saves Jackie's life, takes her in, giving her a job and a place to live. Leena accidentally finds her high school boyfriend - her first true love - on a website while searching for a band to hire for her inn. She discovers he fronts a band. She does not hire him but instead decides to check him out at a festival where he is playing. Leena's husband Bruce has not trusted Jackie from the beginning. Leena, on the other hand, has taken a shine to this girl. This disagreement, and Bruce's drinking habits, put the couple at odds many times. Throughout the year, the two women experience the highs of passionate love and the crushing disappointment of love lost, not unlike their old memories that play out in the present in a déjà vu way.
