The Sunshine Machine
Andrea Cruz
Do you like to draw or create stories? As a child, Andrea Cruz was always drawing and telling stories. Some stories she kept in a journal, which was recently discovered by her family. When she read her old story, The Sunshine Machine, she was surprised by how much she liked it, considering she was a young child when she created it. This book is unique because Cruz includes her original story (side by side) with the remastered version. She believes that by including the original story, children who read this book will be encouraged to make their own stories and see the value in their creations. The Sunshine Machine is a rhyming story of a wealthy old woman who lives alone and is trapped indoors by the cold weather. One day she meets a young man delivering papers and begs him to keep her company. The man insists that he cannot stay but reveals his dream of letting the world know of his invention. The woman is intrigued by his invention and the two come up with a plan that is beneficial for both of them.
