In a land fraught with wars and dangerous mythical beasts, peacetime can be a burden a knight wouldn't wish upon his worst enemy. With the Welsh and the Mercians holding truce, Sir Bewyr of Ystrad turns his considerable skills to the age-old tradition of dragonslaying!

After recruiting fellow slayers, Irwerth and Llandav, the trio set out to the Dark Continent where travelers have reported an over-abundance of larger, more ferocious dragons. But while awaiting to set sail, a blacksmith regals them with a story he'd heard from an ancient mariner. The sailor had been shipwrecked on a mist-filled island from which he claimed to have seen monsters as big as dragons but with no wings, creatures that feasted upon their own.

An island full of wingless dragons? Although intrigued, the knights dismiss the tale?that is, until they themselves are shipwrecked on a mist-filled island, no less. And with the first thunderous, earth-shaking step?followed by a blood-curdling, heart-stopping roar?the knights realize this is no ordinary island.

Luckily, they are no ordinary knights.
