Back from the war, Seren Nighthawk knows that she must lead more of her fellow bards to war against their enemy, the Zorlandrian Empire. Not only must Seren go back to war with Sarah, but their younger lovers, Caitlin and Morgana, will be going with them. Seren must deal with her ever-growing empathy while being exposed to the horrors of war through not just her eyes, but through the eyes of everyone around her.
