What follows is a sampling of our essays, observations, and hypotheses. Some seem obvious, some awesome, and some improbable; but all deserve contemplation, and most deserve investigation. Read these pages and you will discover paths waiting to be explored. This treatise is a treasure map of doors, closed but not locked; doors to rooms waiting to be explored. We have created a small window in each door, and you, the reader, are invited not only to peak through those windows but to open the door afterwards and join in the exploration. To the casual reader, we say: Enjoy. Be awed. Feel the sparks in your cerebral neurons. To the future scientist, we say: Use the molecular and analytical tools available to you, now or in the future, to investigate these ideas. But do not forsake the simple tools that brought us to this point: our eyes, our ears, our senses of touch, taste, and smell; and our imaginations.
