Hidden is the 21st century resource the Black church has not been looking for, but so desperately needs. For too long, Allashia Smith-Harris' most beloved part of Black culture, the Church, has implicitly ignored the plight of the mentally ill in our communities. With her Bible in one hand and credentials in the other, Smith-Harris is committed to availing herself, through this work, as a guide for effective pastoral and congregational preparation in the face of mental health challenges. We will uncover where mental illness hides in our pews, how to identify those suffering and minimize triggers and where to find the best resources to support your church. A commitment to mental health in our churches reestablishes the Black church as the "Hospital for the Saints", where like Jesus, we heal ALL the sick.
