The Images Unwind

? As the images unwind, like the circles that you findIn the windmills of your mind ? - Legrand/BergmanThe title of this anthology is borrowed from that most wonderful song The Windmills of Your Mind, which was a big hit for the angelic-looking Noel Harrison back in 1968 when I was still a red-blooded teenager. Unbidden, a memory from childhood or adolescence or adulthood - a fragment of a life lived across these last seven decades - will conjure up an image in my mind. And that is where it begins for me. As the image unwinds, I always feel compelled to write about that person or that time or that event. Often the writing will be in the form of a short story, but just as often it will turn into an even shorter piece of prose - an anecdote, if you like. So in this latest collection of my writings I've assembled my most recent short stories, together with a selection of those anecdotes I've penned over the years. One of the latter even features The Windmills of Your Mind!I hope the following is of some interest, if not entertainment. Brendan GisbyJuly 2020
