Dreams of Wonderland Verity Winters
Dreams of Wonderland
Verity Winters
"You won't be able to leave this time, Alice. Wonderland will claim you."For years, Alice was told that Wonderland was just a dream. That all of the fantastic characters were just figments of her imagination. But they never went away. When she was younger, Alice would have dreams on the anniversary of her first 'adventure' in Wonderland. Hatter, Cheshire, Rabbit, and Queen would visit her, playing games and just generally have fun with her on those nights. However, once Alice became a woman, those dreams changed. All of the sudden, Cheshire was no longer just a cat--he was a sinfully attractive man with cat ears atop his head. The others changed as well, each becoming a more 'adult' version of what they had shown her before. Alice thought that she was losing my mind further, when the memories started distracting her during her waking hours. Especially when she saw a man who looked so familiar at her family home, hired to be the gardener to the estate. Her grandmother described his clothing as just the normal gardener's coveralls, but Alice saw him in an impeccably neat white tailcoat with matching silk gloves. He was a gentleman, but he acted like he knew her when others weren't watching. Alice was seeking refuge from her sister's scheming in the garden when he asked her about an oddity near the ramada--near where the rabbit hole had been before. Where it was, yet again. She never expected him to follow her down the rabbit hole.
