The world had been changed by greed and apathy. Corporate interests in fossil fuels had finally broken the Earth. The new gaps in the plate network had at first only generated a few odd earthquakes in unusual locations. Then, the expansion of this invasive practice yielded cataclysmic consequences. Out of this man-made apocalypse, a new world order was formed, one that revolved around corporate interest zones and run by a council of corporate leaders whose only goal is survival. To ensure this, the corporate zones have created the Disaster Responder Units, tasked with identifying, controlling, and maintaining key resources for their corporate zone overlords.
