Some people are born to rebel. Enin and his girlfriend Kalo are being pursued by Field Agent Operatives on the planet of Tramalia after Enin steals top secret files from High Command Headquarters. With Kalo's help, Enin escapes to Neonolia - a neighbouring planet - where he must enlist the help of Queen Zayzo Gee of the Chwaree jungle tribe. He stays with the jovial architect Okik Kinipo and his family while he waits for an audience with the Queen at an upcoming festival. He works for Okik's wife, Pend, for his keep, during which time the settlement comes under attack by hilltop beasts. Kalo is detained after helping Enin to elude the authorities, which forces her to remember the training she received from her Grandmother, Syon. She breaks out of detainment and hides out in the forests of the upland sweeps where she meets a mysterious hermit by the name of Evif Zenoto. His guidance sets Kalo on the path to realizing the potential of her untapped power, and slowly, they are joined in the hidden cave by more new 'renegades'. The Field Agent Operatives continue to track down the rebellious personnel, and Kalo must once again give them the slip. She disappears into the city until the danger has passed, but the Operatives have laid a trap. What will happen if Kalo is detained a second time? Is she the leader that Evif has been waiting for?
