The ninth edition of the Guilded Pen- Strange Happenings, is a collection of poetry, essays, memoir tales and imaginative short stories by authors drawing inspiration from life on the California coast, people and places as far afield as South Africa, or locales that exist only in the authors' imaginations. Whether chronicling life in the ordinary, or teetering on the fringes of the bizarre, "Strange Happenings" challenges the mundane, embraces the surreal, and stretches the imagination beyond earthly realms. The writers showcased within represent a variety of cultures and life experiences, races, ages and genders. They are high school students braving public scrutiny for the first time to great-grandparents leaving a legacy of wisdom for those who follow. All stories, whether real or imagined, are entertaining. Every year since 2012, the San Diego Writers and Editors Guild has published an annual anthology containing stories written by our diverse membership. The 2020 Contributors are: Laurie Asher, R. J.
