Someone is playing dangerous games with author Max Lynn's brilliant mind. But who and why? Operation Simple Simon aims to create a new multi-religion based political party, and Max is producing its first manifesto. A key member of OSS, Professor Freddie Fitch, a climatologist who believes that the climate change movement is the biggest fraud ever perpetrated against humankind, is murdered, and the finger of suspicion points at Max. Freddie's murder, and a later one, are both committed by methods previously used by Max in his novels. It doesn't look good for Max. Circumstantial evidence continues to mount against Max. Someone is trying to discredit his name to destroy OSS. He enlists the help of Adam Clark, an old friend from his days in Afghanistan. Adam is an academic with MI-5 connections.
