The families of Fowler are from Hambleden, Buckinghamshire, England in 1633, VanKeuren/Jansen from Noord-Brabant, Netherlands in 1625, Melsbach/Millspaugh from Neuwied-Am-Rhein, Germany in 1700, Mapes of Beeston, Norfolk, England in 1562, Osterhoudt/Oosterhout of Oosterhout, North Brabant, Netherlands in 1627, Van Amesfoort/Van Steenberg from Amersfoort and Steenbergen, Utrecht, Netherlands in 1610, Baldwin from Wendover, Buckinghamshire, England in 1538, Starr from Cranbrook, Kent, England in 1589 and Chandler of Bishop's Stortford, Hertfordshire, England in 1595. The various families migrated to North America at different times and for different reasons. Some came as part of the Dutch migration to New Amsterdam to start a new colony. Several came as part of the Great Migration to escape religious persecution in England, and one as part of the Palatine Migration to escape the endless wars between France and Germany.
