This sequel to book one, Close to the Edge, has the granddaughter of Joesph Carstein determined to correct the injustice to the two railwaymen. Rummaging through the attic junk Stella Carstain comes across the letters her grandfather wrote to her grandmother. These letters, plus newspaper cuttings, proved a miscarriage of justice had occurred when her grandfather, Detective Inspector Carstein, had investigated a train crash in 1917. Set on having the wrongly convicted railwaymen exonerated of the causing the train crash Stella comes to England to follow her grandfather's investigation to find the necessary evidence.
