This is a historical book, because it is the first English book where the writers are all Bengali, and the first endeavor to bring into light the writings of Bengali women living abroad. All the authors who share their stories in the book, they are currently living either in the United States or in Canada. They all are not coming from Bangladesh, some of them are from India. The stories of the book are a combination of short stories, personal stories, and true stories from the immigrant women. 36 stories of the book "The Golden Leaves" is the mirror of the struggling life of the Bengali immigrant women.
