On October 26, 1925, Marie Lawson was the last child born to Fannie and Wilke Lawson. Her mother said God saved the best child 'til last since Marie hardly cried. Marie's large blue eyes captured her father's heart. At fourteen, Marie promised her Pappy she would get a college degree, but a misunderstanding took her down the wrong road. With no jobs available nor husband pickings in the Stony Fork, Marie's sister, Sue, insisted they moved to Cincinnati to live with their older sister, Chanie. Both girls got good jobs. Marie found her dream job as an accountant at Woolworth in Peeple's Corner. One day while Marie stuffed money from the register into a bag, she caught a man staring at her over the lunch menu. She turned six shades of red and ran back to her office. She learned to ignore the handsome WWII vet until he approached her one day and asked her out. The only reason she accepted the date was to discourage him by being unfriendly. But, her plan backfired when Jimmy was delightful, talkative, and funny! She hadn't laughed that much in years. Sadly, she learned poor Jimmy Wilcox had been the poster boy for bad luck since a young boy. As her feelings continued to grow for Jimmy she decided to accept his proposal of marriage so he would stop proposing on every date! Good Grief! The ups and downs of Marie's marriage with Jimmy for the next 38 years would be a roller coaster ride storyline for their daughter, Kathy Marie Wilcox Storrie, to write and share in a book called MARIE! HOPE YOU BUY THE BOOK & LOVE IT!
