Simon and Parker. the protagonists in all of Knighton Meade's previous novels, are now married and on their honeymoon in Paris. They receive a desperate email for help from Case "Flash" Gordon, Simon's old college roommate, now living and working in Singapore. Flash's oil company, Astro Energy, is under a terrorist-style takeover attempt. His offshore rig had been subject to gunboat attacks with life-threatening, exploding flares. The investigation is complicated because it takes place during the height of the social polo-season. Just as the newlyweds arrive for the opening match between Singapore and world champion Argentina, an IED-like explosion on the field wounds several players, kills three million-dollar horses and scares the daylights out of numerous spectators. This sets the tone of this romantic thriller.
