Corporations have replaced the governments of Earth (and Luna) - and are more totalitarian than any previous regime. Adam Eversmann, the hero of the story, works as a distribution executive for a large clothing corporation and he hasn't left his apartment in ten years. Instead, he interacts with his co-workers and friends through his Personal Health Administrator and Neurological Tutelary Aggregate Systems Monitor - his PHANTASM; a corporate computer named, Missy. But a lot can happen in ten years. During a routine company meeting, Adam makes a startling discovery: the entire global market has just repeated itself. The exact same customers have just bought the exact same goods that they did ten years prior. And things only get worse. Unlike a previous Adam, he isn't the first man alive, but more shockingly, he might be the last man alive. And if so, is there an Eve for this Adam?
