Tears of the Innocent is a collection of 40 poems by Ogork Kate Taku, a Cameroonian poet and short story writer. First published in 2016 by Shiloh Printers in Cameroon, these poems are a must read. The book is already in use by students of African literature in several Universities in Cameroon, and by some Secondary School Teachers. The Title poem "Tears of the Innocent" is a lament of an innocent girl whom the world describes as a prostitute; but she says she knows the plight of the destitute. Her tears overflow each night, but no one can feel her pain. In spite of the degrading injustices and political upheavals in the Postcolonial African societies, there is hope for a better tomorrow. This hope is highlighted in the poems. There are poems that glorify the African as being proud of their traditions and cultures, their personalities and even their roots.
