Clay is an 18-year-old College student on the edge of failing out. He is working full time at a diner making under minimum wage. He is living in a rundown apartment building in a studio apartment that is falling apart. With being on a scholarship with high demands, he is quickly drowning and on the verge of being kicked out. He is able to get his professors to agree to an extension of his work, all but one. He had to try and make an agreement with Professor Derek Myers, but it's an agreement he never saw coming.
