Poet Sang-Ok Shim has been making pottery and poetry all her life, as she says "All my life I've been building, making and rubbing. I've been living on that strength for a while." As you can see from these confessions, she has developed and maintained her own life with the power to create pottery and poetry. Her life is also clear and transparent, like the brilliant colored pottery she created. The poet is also a poet of flowers. This flower is the truth of life obtained through the journey of a difficult life, just as cited from her poem"hope only after failure" comes. To reach this flower, you must start constantly reflecting on your life. You should stand in the middle of a desolate road like "a traveler" you have taken so far and look inside yourself, measuring the way you have to go forward. The poet thinks through flowers and learns life through flowers. She reflects on her past life and listens to the beauty and noble values of life that flowers tell her. 'Flower' can be a metaphor for pure nature or the name of all living things that come to the ground and disappear.
