"Whisper of the Golden Feather" follows Alyx, a 15-year-old girl, as her circumstances thrust her into three "realms": native North America in the 1600's, rich with representations of everyday life, culture and folklore; present day rural North America brimming with animal dodems and portents; and a powerful, intoxicating spirit-world where Alyx battles the supremely evil Dan/Coyote. Alyx's guides and mentors are Kateri, a mute aboriginal spirit-girl, Dek, a powerful male spirit-being and growing love interest for Alyx and the enigmatic Great Grey Wolf. As the mystery of the Golden Feather unravels, Alyx learns that she is more than she thought she was, and that she, alone, can change the future. At the core "Whisper of the Golden Feather" is about transition, on many levels: childhood to adulthood, old life to new life, accepted reality to possible reality. Rich in North American aboriginal folklore and mysticism, "Whisper of the Golden Feather" is also a tale of ancestral bonds, vengeance, responsibility and restitution.
