It is hoped that this book includes many heads of household at that time and serves as a substitute for missing or no censuses. It even includes the names of many native Americans. These records provide an incredible amount of information about these early people. While censuses help track people, the records this book contains are even better in some respects than the census because it helps us understand some of their personal information not recorded by a census.
