Considering the Covid-19 Pandemic, loss has become personified on a level in our society that has become unprecedented. So much death, grief, and loss are inevitable because of this outbreak. This short story is being written at the end of 2020 while death rates are climbing in America and the world. Vaccines are finally being released and the most needful populations are beginning to receive them world-wide. Hope is on the horizon. I cannot begin to fathom the depths of those who have lost loved ones to the Coronavirus. But I do know what it is like to lose a family member at a young age from tetanus. My hope with this short story is to convey that remembering loved ones lost is never an exercise in futility. We honor their lives and remind ourselves of the great gift that they gave us by their lives. They live on in our collective memories. We are richer because of what they gave to us. Blessings and hope for 2021.
