Like most young navy recruits, Adam Nelson faced many common challenges-peer pressure, substance abuse, money squandering, and a host of others-that only intensified when he got to the fleet. The one constant throughout his early life was his faith in Jesus Christ. Yet even after surrendering his life to Christ, Adam wrestled with the world. The desires of the flesh were enticing and fought for his attention, and Adam was losing those battles. His drinking led to bad decision after bad decision-until one divine encounter. The trials didn't stop there, but something changed. As a husband and father, Adam has committed himself fully to God's purpose. Through the valleys and over the mountains, God has delivered on his promises and has displayed his love repeatedly in Adam's life. Now Adam's biggest goal is to raise God-fearing children and to share with others the hard-won lessons of his former life in contrast to the life he now leads in Christ-in a way that he wished someone would have told his younger self.
